The short version
This is a personal site I run to find roommates for my apartment. I collect only what I need to judge whether we'd live well together, I never sell your information, and I delete it within 90 days of the room being filled. If you want a copy of your data or want it deleted sooner, use the request form.
What I collect
When you apply for a room:
- Your first name, email address, and phone number
- Public profile links you choose to share (Instagram, LinkedIn, X, Facebook, or anything else)
- Your free-text answers: about you, your lifestyle, and when you'd like to move in
- The room you applied for
- A short fit note and a short public-profile note generated by AI from the above (see below)
- The delivery id of the confirmation email, so I can tell it went out
I do not collect government IDs, financial information, or precise location. If we decide to move forward, the landlord runs their own application and screening separately, and none of that happens through this site.
How I use it
- To judge roommate compatibility and decide who to invite to see the place
- To send emails about your application: a confirmation, a visit invitation, a decision
- To reach out if a room opens up later and you told us you were interested
- For aggregate, non-identifying stats, like how many people applied
No marketing, no newsletters, nothing you didn't ask for.
AI and public-profile lookup
I use an AI model accessed through OpenRouter (currently DeepSeek), routed only to providers that do not retain prompts, to condense your free-text answers into a short fit note, and to look up the public profiles you chose to share and write a short, factual note about what is publicly visible. The lookup may use a web search. These notes are stored with your application and are seen only by me and my roommate.
A human reads every application. No decision is made automatically, and no note is sent to anyone else. If you'd rather not have your profiles looked up, simply don't share any links.
Who I share it with
Service providers, listed plainly, no resale:
- Google Cloud Run: hosting
- Google Sheets: storage of applications
- Resend: transactional email
- OpenRouter and its model providers: AI summarization and public-profile lookup, via providers that do not retain prompts
Robert, who reviews applications with me, sees them too. I do not sell your personal information, and I do not share it with advertisers, data brokers, or anyone not listed above.
Retention
Applications live in a private spreadsheet. I keep them for up to 90 days after the room you applied for is filled or the search closes, then I delete them. If you want yours gone sooner, use the request form and I'll delete it within 30 days, usually much sooner.
Your California rights (CCPA)
If you live in California, you have the right to:
- Know what personal information I collected and how I used it
- Access a copy of the personal information I hold about you
- Delete your personal information
- Correct inaccurate information
- Opt out of sale: I don't sell personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of
- Non-discrimination: exercising any of these will not affect how I read your application
Use the request form for any of these. I respond within 30 days, usually sooner.
Cookies and tracking
No analytics, no advertising trackers, no cookies. While you fill in the application, your draft answers are kept in your browser's session storage so a refresh doesn't lose them; that lives only on your device and is cleared when you submit or close the tab.
Children
This site is not directed at anyone under 18.
Contact
All privacy requests and questions go through the request form. It records what you're asking for and reaches me directly. You can also just reply to any email you got from us.
